The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Business and Law Professor Gael McDonald recently hosted the Faculty's annual Advisory Board and Industry Engagement Dinner. The evening provided the opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the contributions of the Advisory Board members and engagement between the members, the Faculty Management team, Senior Executive and Alumni of significance.
This year there were several of the Senior Executive on hand to give presentations. Professor Gael McDonald welcomed the guests and Chris Kelly, Deputy Dean provided introductions for the speakers. The Vice-Chancellor was in attendance and provided further updates on the University and the Strategic plan - Live the future. Professor Beverley Oliver (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Education) gave an overview of how Deakin is shaping its education program and Professor Lee Astheimer - (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research) presented on how Deakin is endeavoring to be at the forefront of key areas of research.
The Faculty advisory board members are drawn from corporate partners such as Deloitte, PwC and Ernst & Young, with guests very much enjoying the evening as can be seen in the photo gallery .
A member of the Commerce Advisory Board commented, 'Very many thanks for a great evening. I enjoyed and learned much from the formal presentations; the company was good, as was the food and ambience.'
72 guests were in attendance, with 46 guests from advisory boards and 6 members of the Commerce Chapter Alumni.
Professor McDonald said 'I am pleased that we have such distinguished members of the industry advising us. It is important to Deakin that we stay engaged with the businesses. After all, these are the very companies who will be employing our future graduates. These board members advise us in a number of ways, including participating in industry engagement events on campus - as well as taking on board business and law interns.'
