For almost a decade, the Aurora Native title Internship Program has provided exciting opportunities for law students and graduates to experience working in the area of native title, through internships at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) and other organisations involved in policy development, social justice and Indigenous affairs.
The program continues to attract enthusiastic university students and graduates. To date, it has received 2,500 legal applications and arranged for 840 legal placements (from 31 Australian and seven overseas universities) at 15 NTRBs and over 64 other organisations.
A record number of legal placements have been arranged for students and graduates from 23 Australian universities and 2 from overseas at 13 NTRBs and 23 other organisations. This includes organisations such as the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC), Cape York Institute (CYI), the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence (NCIE), the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) and Reconciliation Australia (RA), and several other organisations working in policy development and Indigenous affairs more generally.
