Course planningstudents

Enrolled students can plan their course online at StudentConnect.

At Deakin University a course is made of units. A group of units in the same subject area are called a major sequence (in undergraduate courses) or a specialisation (in postgraduate courses).

After reading the Handbook, consult a Faculty Student Adviser to ensure your course planning meets the requirements for course completion. If you have any questions send an enquiry email:

Melbourne Campus at Burwood students enqblm@deakin.edu.au
Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds students enqblg@deakin.edu.au
Warrnambool Campus and off-campus students enqblw@deakin.edu.au
Postgraduate students postgrad-students@deakin.edu.au

studentThe normal study load for full-time students is 4 credits points per semester except in summer semester, where the maximum enrolment is 2 credit points. The normal part-time load is 2 credit points per semester.

You can enrol in up to 5 credit points in either semester 1 or 2 after your first year. However, you will need permission from an enrolment officer. Permission will only be given if you can show evidence of a strong academic record or if it is the final unit you need to graduate.

Refer to the course rules for your course in the Current Students course search or seek guidance from a Faculty Student Adviser at your campus office. Monitor your progress through your course and your course requirements in StudentConnect via the Course completion link. Prerequisite requirements for all units must be met.

You can take up to 8 credit points from another faculty. However, this depends on the number of elective units available in your course.

Further information can be found at the Current students website.
