Current student information

Prerequisite unitsstaff

A unit that must be successfully completed before you can enrol in another is a prerequisite unit. Some areas of learning require knowledge built up by following a sequence of units. If a student is enrolled in a unit that has a prerequisite, and fails the prerequisite unit in the previous trimester, they will automatically be withdrawn from the second unit. This unit will be shown as ‘INVALID’ on StudentConnect. In this event a student should contact a student adviser about their enrolment and course plan.

Failure in a prerequisite unit usually indicates that students do not have the knowledge that will allow them to successfully continue in the next unit.

Information about all Faculty courses and major sequences are found in the University Handbook. Most courses, majors and specialisations include both compulsory and elective units. In choosing elective units remember that prerequisites for any unit must be met.
