Scholarships and Grants

First in Family Access Scholarships*

Deakin University is committed to providing educational opportunities for capable students who might not otherwise enjoy the benefits that flow from access to higher education. Our goal is to ensure that all students realise their potential irrespective of background or personal circumstances.

In support of this initiative the Faculty of Business and Law is offering grants to financially assist students commencing an undergraduate degree through our Faculty on the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the Geelong Waterfront Campus or off-campus.

Value

Grants of up to $2000 ($250 per successful unit of study), subject to academic performance.

Duration

The grant will be paid over one year, the student's first year of study.

To be eligible students must:

  • Apply for entry through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre - VTAC, in a Business and Law course on the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the Geelong Waterfront Campus or off-campus;
  • Enrol for the first time in 2014 as a Commonwealth Supported student, in a Deakin University, Faculty of Business and Law undergraduate course; and
  • Meet the requirements of the VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme - SEAS Category 4: Disadvantaged financial background.

How to apply

  1. You must apply, through VTAC, and enrol in a Business and Law course on the Melbourne Burwood Campus, the Geelong Waterfront Campus or off-campus.
  2. You must complete a VTAC SEAS application.

Once you have completed these two steps, and you are confirmed as meeting the requirements of a SEAS Category 4 applicant, you will be considered for the award of a grant. Study may be on a full-time or part-time basis.

As part of our commitment to providing access and equity, we encourage SEAS applications and advise that all applications will be seriously considered.

Closing date

VTAC timely applications for 2014 close 5pm 27 September 2013.
