Review of Result
Students enrolled in a Faculty of Business and Law Unit only
This process is pursuant to Regulation 5.3(1) Assessment and Academic Progress in Higher Education Award Courses (section 4) and Assessment (Higher Education Courses)-Procedure (sections 58 – 63)
Review of Result gives you the opportunity to check whether your final mark and grade is correct. You may also ask for a remark where you can demonstrate the assessment processes have not been carried out in accordance with the relevant policies or procedures. Applications must include grounds for such a review.
This Review of Result process cannot be used to obtain feedback on your performance. You may need to contact your Unit Chair to obtain feedback and you may also find the information you need on CloudDeakin.
We recognise that mistakes may occur from time to time and if this is established and confirmed by the Unit Chair; an amendment to result will be completed. We suggest you apply for an Administrative Review of Result.
If you have failed your unit, please note that as part of University policy, Unit Teams are required to mark all failed items of assessment, which is conducted by a second assessor to ensure the result is correct. This means your assignments and examination have already been marked twice. If you think that you should have scored higher, you should contact your Unit Chair for feedback.
If you have passed your unit but believe you should have scored higher, you should contact your Unit Chair for feedback. You cannot use this process to challenge academic judgement
If you can demonstrate in your application that the assessment process did not comply with the criteria published in the Unit Guide or did not comply with University policies on assessment (i.e. an error in the process has occurred), you may apply for an Academic Review of Result.
Most likely this means there is a hurdle requirement in your unit and you did not achieve the standard required to pass. This is even if you achieved at least a pass average on the progressive assessment during the trimester. It does not mean you are 6 marks away from a pass grade.
Alternatively, units may have a hurdle requirement where you have to obtain 50% of the marks available in the unit. As such, you may not have met this required standard.
This process cannot be used as a substitute for a special consideration application. Applications for special consideration cannot be lodged after release of results.
Any outcome of an application is final and cannot be challenged further. This includes any amendments made to your final score as a result of an application.
Online applications are closed.
