Faculty of Business and Law

Review of Result

Students enrolled in a Faculty of Business and Law Unit only

This process is pursuant to Regulation 5.3(1) Assessment and Academic Progress in Higher Education Award Courses (section 4) and Assessment (Higher Education Courses)-Procedure (sections 62 – 67)

The Review of Result process provides you with the opportunity to confirm the accuracy of your final score and grade or to apply for an academic review where you are concerned that there may have been a misapplication of policy or procedures.

This Review of Result process cannot be used to obtain feedback on your performance. You may need to contact your Unit Chair to obtain feedback and you may also find the information you need on CloudDeakin.
We recognise that mistakes may occur from time to time and if this is established and confirmed by the Unit Chair, an amendment to result will be completed. We suggest you apply for an Administrative review to initiate this process.
If you have failed your unit and are disappointed, please note that as part of University policy, Unit teams are required to remark all failed items of assessment to ensure that your final result is correct. This means that fail grade assignments and examination papers have already been marked twice.

If you did pass your unit but believe you should have received a higher result, you cannot use this process to challenge academic judgement.

If you can demonstrate in your application that your assessment did not comply with the criteria published in the Unit Guide or did not comply with University policies on assessment (i.e. an error in process has occurred), you may apply for an Academic Review.

Most likely this means there is a hurdle requirement in your unit and you did not achieve the standard on the final exam required to pass the unit. This may be so even if you have achieved a pass average on the progressive assessment during the Trimester.

Alternatively, units may have a hurdle requirement where you have to obtain 50% of the marks available in the unit and you may not have met this required standard.

Please check your Unit Guide to confirm what the hurdle requirement means.

This process cannot be used as a substitute for a special consideration application. Applications for special consideration cannot be lodged after release of results.
Any outcome of an application is final and cannot be challenged further. This includes any amendments made to your final score as a result of an application.

Applications must be submitted within 5 working days from the date of official notification of results.

Online applications are closed.
