Business Internship Program

Success story Allisa Work

An experience beyond the classroom

Allisa Work is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate who completed a Business Internship in Human Resource Management with the Coles Supermarkets division of Coles Myer Limited.

Allisa was involved in a range of human resources activities. Her major project was the challenge of completing a report on “Equal Opportunities for Women in the Workplace Agency”

In commenting on her experience she said “One aspect [of human resource management] that could not be experienced in the classroom were the meetings that I attended. These meetings were very helpful in that they gave me insight into many different aspects of HR and how it is used in everyday business. The meeting with a recruitment agency allowed me to view a negotiation taking place between Coles and the agency in order to produce recruitment advertisements for Coles.”

Allisa noted these “real life” business situations would not be able to be learnt or experienced in the classroom.

Allisa obviously made a lasting impression. She has now been offered a graduate position in Learning and Development at Coles Myer.
