Melbourne Burwood Campus facilities and services

In recent years an extensive redevelopment and refurbishment program has transformed the Melbourne Burwood Campus into an architecturally dynamic and award-winning campus. As part of this redevelopment, the University library has been expanded and new lecture theatres, teaching spaces and support facilities have created a modern learning environment for students that retains a sense of community.

The Central Precinct is a 'student hub', designed to be multi-functional and flexible in a way that allows Deakin to meet student needs and provide opportunities for engagement with the local community.

Deakin University Art Gallery
Established in 2003, the Deakin University Art Gallery aims to foster a general awareness and understanding of the visual arts amongst the University community, and the general public, through a vibrant exhibition program.

Motion.Lab
The Deakin Motion.Lab is a motion capture facility which provides expertise for teaching, research and commercial development.

Gardiners Creek parklands
The beautiful Gardiners Creek parklands and walking track winds between the main Campus, the student residences and Elgar Road precinct. Walking, running and bike riding in this peaceful area, landscaped with native vegetation, is a popular activity with staff and students.

Sport and recreation
The campus features a purpose built gymnasium and sports hall. A range of special interest and recreation clubs are active on campus, facilitated by the Deakin University Student Association, including the well-established student theatre group. Sporting clubs include athletics, coaching, football, golf, basketball, soccer, pool and tae kwon do.

Food, wine and personal services
The campus has several busy eateries including Einstein's restaurant and bar, a main cafeteria and the Plateau Café.

A campus shop sells cards, confectionary, stationery and newspapers. The campus bookshop provides academic and general texts and study guides, as well as a mail order service.

Other campus facilities include automatic teller machines and a childcare centre. The campus is also close to Bennettswood shopping centre providing hairdressing, food shops, a chemist and newsagency.
