- About Deakin
Deakin University's interactive Campus map comprises a standard base map and series of map overlays and associated information. Overlay features can be 'switched on' by selecting the corresponding check box. Graphical information associated with that overlay feature will be displayed on the map as well as associated textual information in the information pane.
Buildings on campus are all labeled in lower case, alpha-numeric characters. The drop-down menu 'Locate Buildings' lists all the buildings on the Campus in alphabetical order and allows you to select one or more buildings, graphically highlights these on the large map, and displays textual information in the information pane.
You are able to zoom and pan across the Campus map via the map control pane. Action buttons here allow you to zoom in an out (+ -). Moving the shaded area on the mini-map with your mouse will then allow you to pan across the larger map and seek the location of the selected building or overlay feature. The map and overlays can be reset to its original size by clicking the 'reset map' button. The original base map can be reset without any overlay or buildings selected by clicking the 'reset all' button.
The map, whether at full scale or zoomed in, and associated information can be printed by selecting the print button. This will provide you with the option of either printing just the map, just the associated information, or both. Please ensure that your printer page size setting is set to A4 when printing from an interactive Campus map.
The maps are underpinned by Flash technology and will work under all supported browsers that have the required Flash plugin. The interactive page will automatically detect if you don't have the required Flash player plugin for your browser and redirect you to the Macromedia web site where you can download the plugin. For members of the University community, the Flash player plugin can also be accessed from the software web site.
To find out what version of Flash player you currently have installed, you can visit the Macromedia website at this URL: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/welcome/
If you experience difficulties with the interactive campus map, there is a static map that you can access from the Campus web site, in addition, you could contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
