Using our facilities

Deakin's Geelong campuses – at Waurn Ponds and Waterfront – offer a range of facilities and services to the public. Visitors are always welcome at our libraries and our cafes are a great place to meet for a coffee or meal. We also have a gym to workout in, accommodation for short-term stays and lots of different event spaces available to rent.

Visit our libraries

We have three libraries in Geelong, all open to the public. At Waurn Ponds, the campus library is located in Building JC. The library at Geelong Waterfront Campus is in the John Hay building.

Our Waterfront campus is also home to the Alfred Deakin Ministerial Library, in the Sally Walker building where members of the public can see exhibitions and access special Australian history and genealogy resources.

All our eateries across both campuses are open to the public. Enjoy outdoor dining at Waurn Ponds with cafes, bistros and licensed bars spread throughout the landscaped grounds.

At Geelong Waterfront, there are two 'grab and go' outlets and the Waterfront Kitchen cafe, a former Victorian Regional Cafe Restaurant Award finalist.

Experience 3D GAIT at Deakin

3D GAIT at Geelong Waurn Ponds campus provides a scientific three-dimensional assessment of your biomechanics.

Your movement patterns are recorded while you walk and/or run to determine atypical movement patterns (compared to the world's largest database of three-dimensional biomechanical data). This is the most advanced form of commercial gait analysis available directly to the public.

Gait analysis can be beneficial for walkers and runners of all ages and activity levels. An assessment will identify any out of the ordinary movement patterns and help manage or prevent injuries.

You don't need a referral to access our service, which is available to the general community, but you’ll need to make a booking.

At the Waterfront campus the bookshop is located on Level 2 of Building D and at our Waurn Ponds campus you’ll find us in Building jb.
