Internships and work placement
Do you have a project that requires further support with specialist skills? Want to bring an enthusiastic and fresh approach to your business with a flexible, low-cost recruitment solution? Would you like an opportunity to get a head start on recruiting the best new graduates for your company? Our students may be the answer.
Offering internships and work placement
Deakin specialises in providing its students with real-life skills and experiences. If you're an employer looking to engage with the next generation of students, we can help. Our students bring a fresh, dynamic approach to developing solutions for your organisation's work tasks and projects.
Students are able to undertake projects that your organisation may not have the resources to explore, particularly not-for-profits and small to medium enterprises. Internship and work placement opportunities often don't require payment at all.
Hosting Deakin students for an internship with your organisation is an effective way to identify developing and fresh talent. You never know, they may even become your future employees.
There are a range of internship and work placement programs available at Deakin, including:
- credit-bearing short term internships (100–160 hours)
- longer-term (3–12 months) industry-based learning paid roles
- community volunteering placements
- career placements that aren't course-specific
- placements that go towards a student’s professional recognition in their field
- professional experience placements for those students who have ongoing placements as part of their course.
If you're interested in offering an internship or work placement, please complete our expression of interest form.
The Freelancing Hub is a new initiative led by the Graduate Employment Division to expand the range of work-integrated learning opportunities available to Deakin students.
Hub students will work on real business projects offered by real clients, without the need for students to be physically located at the client’s site. Hub projects typically span up to several weeks throughout a study trimester and allow students from varying disciplines to develop skills in teamwork, self-management, professionalism and project delivery.
If your business has a potential Hub project available and would like to connect with a team of Deakin students, please contact Robert Pica for more information.
Lodge and advertise your employment vacancies for free via the Deakin job listing website (powered by UniHub) and reach a broad and versatile candidate base.
Unihub is accessed by 10,000 of our current students and recent graduates per month on average.
