Opening the door to the School of Communication and Creative Arts (SCCA) opens the door to a wonderfully rich and diverse curriculum in the artistic and communicative fields.

Students in our courses discover creative programs in the visual and performing arts, communication, film and digital media, journalism and public relations, media, writing and literature that synthesise industry experience, research and innovation.

The creative and communicative professions have emerged as key to the 21st century economy. We know that employers welcome confident and adaptive graduates who have a mix of industry experience, up-to-date skills coupled with resourceful, imaginative and critical thinking.

With twelve specialised teaching disciplines; the SCCA is a vibrant community of scholars working to develop a values-based approach in the exploration of ideas and professional practice within contemporary individualised contexts.

Our helpful academic staff inspire, encourage and support students at every stage of their studies, and in many different ways. With teaching and research linked to student learning, staff draw on extensive industry experience and professional networks in the creative and communicative fields to provide students with critical capacity and depth of cultural understanding of the complex and rapidly changing world around them. As well as its exciting undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs, SCCA fosters a vibrant Higher Degree Research culture that resonates with the School's key research and teaching strengths.

The SCCA is also home to the technologically innovative Deakin Motion.Lab. The studio aims to build capacity in motion capture by providing opportunities for teaching, research and digital creative industries. The studio provides opportunities for study in motion capture, and for interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects involving researchers and artists from creative and scientific disciplines.

We are delighted to welcome you to the SCCA and to the many teaching programs in creative and communication arts we offer at our Melbourne, Geelong and Warrnambool campuses.
