Biography

Biography

In 2000, Dr. Hossny earned his Bachelor Degree in computer science from Cairo University. He was ranked first with a graduation project featuring multimedia authoring toolkit. In 2004, he earned his Masters Degree in computer science in collaboration with the IBM Center for Advance Studies (CAS). During this period he worked with IBM and Yale university on scanning and processing 3D objects for web display. The scope of the research focused on 3D hole filling and texture restoration as part of the Eternal Egypt digital heritage preservation project. Dr. Hossny also worked with IBM on deriving implicit functions to represent digital images. Later, he joined Centre for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR) at Deakin university and developed an algebraic framework for multimodal image fusion as part of his PhD degree in 2009.

Dr. Hossny is now working on fusing image processing, computer graphics and haptics modalities into an augmented reality context in order to facilitate safe, low cost solutions for application domains such as workplace safety and medical radiology.

Dr Hossny graduated from the Faculty of Computers and Informatics, Cairo University in 2000. He earned his Masters Degree in 2004 in computer science. His Masters research was in collaboration with IBM. In 2009, he earned his PhD degree from Deakin University in computer engineering. Dr Hossny works with the Centre for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR) in image processing, computer graphics and haptics.

Dr Hossny's research interests focus on multimedia processing and production, including image processing, computer graphics and haptics. He is working on fusing image processing, computer graphics and haptics modalities into an augmented reality context in order to facilitate safe, low cost solutions for application domains such as workplace safety, biometrics and medical radiology.
