VTAC has two rounds of offers. Round 1 offers came out on 16 January 2012 via SMS and by mail the next day. Round 2 offers came out on 3 February 2012 via SMS and by mail the following day. 95% of offers are made in round 1 and only 5% are made in round 2.
When you get your offer, you have 3 options:
1. Accept
2. Reject
3. Defer
Regardless of whether you accept, reject or defer your 1st round offer, you are still eligible for an offer higher on your list in the second round.
If, after round 1 offers that were released on 16 January 2012, you don’t get into the course you want, you may be able to receive an irregular offer.
You can apply for an irregular offer if you:
Please note that only certain courses cater for irregular offers in particular years so it is important that you contact Deakin as soon as possible after round 1 offers have been made to check availability. To find out if the course you are interested in allows irregular offers and how to apply, please call 1300 DEGREE (1300 334 733).
Then you must complete the irregular offer request via the 'irregular offer' link on MyInfo.
VTAC runs a supplementary offer process after round 2 of offers has been completed. The supplementary offer process is available to applicants who:
After Course Selection Officers at Deakin have considered your application, they will advise VTAC whether you will be offered a place in the course. Supplementary offers will be processed weekly. VTAC will advise you of any supplementary offers via MyInfo and by post. To accept an offer, you must follow the instructions in your offer message.
Detailed information about what you need to do once you have been offered a place will be provided to you with your letter of offer. Please make sure you read the instructions carefully and note all of the dates listed.

Bachelor of Health Sciences – majoring in Nutrition and Family, Society & Health
Studying at Deakin gave me food for thought
‘I knew I wanted to study something in nutrition. However, I didn’t want to be tied down to only nutrition so studying a Bachelor of Health Sciences really appealed to me.’
Aim for your ultimate course – even if you don’t think you’ll have the necessary ATAR, it doesn’t rule it out. You could also look at alternative pathways to gain entry next year.
Deakin has many pathway options including the Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences; the Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT), which is based in Melbourne and Geelong; and partner TAFEs such as Box Hill Institute, Gordon Institute and South West TAFE.
