(i) Students enrolled in this combined course will be required to undertake units of study at both the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and the Geelong Waterfront Campus. (ii) Not all Bachelor of Commerce major sequences are available via on campus study at the Warrnambool campus. International students studying on a student visa may take a maximum of 25% of their total course units via off campus study so should seek course advice to plan their studies if they are enrolled at the Warrnambool campus and wish to undertake a major sequence not available at that campus. | |
Deakin's Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Commerce is a combined course which leads to two awards. The course allows you to combine complementary major sequences such as politics and policy studies and economics; marketing and journalism; and management and public relations.
As a graduate of this course you will acquire a broad knowledge in all aspects of business as well as developing the valuable skills of becoming an expert at managing and communicating knowledge, critical analysis and systematic thinking.
Deakin offers many courses which can be studied by distance education overseas.
However, international students living in Australia must, in each compulsory trimester (that is, Trimesters 1 and 2), enrol in at least one unit that is offered as an on-campus unit and can, in addition enrol in online or off-campus units. Best practice is to enrol in mostly on-campus units in each compulsory trimester.
In a non-compulsory trimester (Trimester 3), international students may study online and off-campus units only. Note that online and off-campus units can make up no more than 25% of a total study load.
A combined course such as the Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Commerce offers you the chance to broaden your career opportunities after graduation. The types of opportunities available will depend on the major sequences taken within the course from a range of areas that include accountancy, advertising, economics, film and video, politics and media.
For further information on career outcomes for this combined course, see the entries for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce.
The combined course comprises 32 credit points of study. Students will undertake 16 credit points in the Faculty of Arts and Education and 16 credit points in the Faculty of Business and Law.
