Course sub-headings

Course overview

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Political Practice is a strongly applied, skills-based, targeted course which qualifies individuals to undertake professional and highly skilled work as political advisors, helping Ministers and other political figures (both in government and opposition) discharge their political, policy and media functions. The course is also a pathway for further learning, and can articulate for instance into Deakin University’s Master of Politics and Policy.

The new Graduate Diploma will provide a range of both theoretical and applied learning opportunities that directly reflect the day-to-day duties of Political Advisors and the knowledge and skills they require to successfully complete these duties. While the course has a strong applied orientation, it brings to bear a rigorous theoretical grounding in political practice with a suite of applied skills to enable staffers and other political or parliamentary employees to better understand, participate in and contribute effectively to our political system.

Career opportunities

The courses are designed as professional development programs for early or mid-career professionals or for those involved in or, seeking to become involved in, policy making and management within the public, community and business sectors, domestically and internationally.
