The Victorian Government is offering scholarships to study secondary teaching at university. Study health and physical education and learn the specialised teaching methods you need to work in secondary schools. Explore how the human body works and understand the science and art of movement.

What's more, the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education is approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as a pre-service teaching qualification.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate (your first degree)

An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Casper test

Casper test

Casper is an online, video-scenario based situational judgement test, designed to measure non-academic suitability for teaching. If you're enrolled to start studies in 2024 and the Casper test is an entry requirement of your course, Deakin will cover your $80 test fee.

Our Professional Experience Program gives us access to more than 1400 schools across Australia, helping us to arrange at least 80 days of placements for you in schools before you graduate.

Travel while you study

If you're studying a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education, you can apply to take one of your placements in a remote Indigenous community, regional town or community, or take your teaching skills abroad. This will develop your skills in intercultural education and give your teaching application a distinct edge.
