Deakin University now offers Italian as one of its major sequences for current and future Bachelor of Arts students.
It provides a great opportunity to become fluent and confident with the Italian language, while learning about Italy, its people and its culture. Studying Italian will give you an insight into a society which has been at the forefront of European culture for the past 2000 years.
UNESCO estimates that Italy holds 80 per cent of the artistic heritage of Europe, and 40 per cent of the world. It is also a member of the G8 group of most industrialised nations in the world and Italian is one of the official languages of the European Union.
Studying a language is highly recommended, for students who are interested in pursuing a career in international relations, social sciences, education, business, tourism, health or human services.
