New majors

The Faculty of Business and Law’s School of Information Systems is offering three new exciting majors:

 

Health Informatics
Health Informatics focuses on the relationship between information systems and health. It looks at the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in a health context and ways in which the information is used and protected. The Health Informatics major focuses on information used with business processes within a healthcare setting as well as for medical treatment

Careers in this field include data/information managers, project manager, systems analyst, programmer, clinical administrator in a health care setting, administrator in government and private organisations processing health data.

You can undertake a major in Health Informatics as part of a Bachelor of Business Information Systems, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Management.

Technology Management
The Technology Management major sequence involves undertaking units in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour which aim to place both the individual and the organisation in perspective. The major is then complemented with a more technical focus by studying the engineering unit, Managing Industrial Organisations.

Both Business Information Systems and Information Systems Management provide both a useful introduction to the importance of information systems to organisations and a capstone unit covering the management of this important function in organisations.

You can undertake a major in Technology Management as part of a Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Commerce.

Professional Practice
The Professional Practice major is designed for students seeking to develop and experience additional skills important in today's business world.

The Professional Practice major will provide you with the ability to manage business information that results in intelligence for business decision-making, the ability to communicate effectively in the workplace, an understanding of the importance and nature of business ethics, and the ability to put such skills to work in businesses of all sizes including small business. These skills are becoming increasingly important in today's contemporary corporate world.

You can undertake a major in Professional Practice as part of a Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Management.
