| Study commitment | Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site. |

| In-person attendance requirements | Campus students only: 1 x 2 hour lecture per week. Campus students are required to attend at least 9 out of the 11 lectures. Online students only: All online students must attend a compulsory 2 day intensive at the Geelong-Waterfront Campus at which core practical learning requirements will be taught. NIKERI-CBD students only: There are compulsory intensives for all students at the National Indigenous Knowledges, Education, Research and Innovation (NIKERI) Institute, Geelong-Waurn Ponds Campus. Content
This unit builds on the work undertaken in HSW111 and will centre on the competency requirements for social work practice. It will be conducted in seminar format focusing on the development of self-awareness, listening and communication skills, basic interviewing skills, beginning assessment and case planning skills. Practice skill development and analysis of professional values and ethics will be integral to the unit.
