Partnerships and collaborations

Our unit collaborates with a range of partners across federal and state government departments. We also partner with national and international research institutes, universities and national not-for-profit organisations. Some of our current collaborators are listed below.

Working together to improve health resources

Deakin Health Economics works with partners, collaborators and funders on a wide range of projects. Examples include:

  • ongoing work in health technology assessment for the Australian government that underpins decisions by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and the Medical Services Advisory Committee regarding services/drugs funded under Medicare
  • ongoing work with the National Stroke Foundation and the Florey Institute of Neuroscience that impacts on care for stroke patients
  • long standing collaboration with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute that impacts on care provided for children
  • a new collaboration with Movember that hopes to improve the patient journey for men with prostate cancer
  • long standing collaboration with the Orygen Research Centre to improve services for young people with mental health conditions
  • ongoing research with the Cancer Council Victoria that has contributed to progress like Quit and SunSmart
  • innovative research with Harvard University evaluating approaches to obesity prevention in children.

I see ACE obesity work and other ACE studies to be frankly leading the world in policy relevant cost-effectiveness analysis in this area. Your critical leadership has started to create waves in the United States, where the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation here for the first time approved some international work (with your team) to assist in their $500 million childhood obesity initiative.”
