Typical study commitment:

Students will on average spend 150-hrs over the trimester on learning and assessment activities in this unit. The time should be divided between online learning activities, discussion boards, designated activities, assessment tasks, readings and study time. This includes BBL collaborate sessions which will be held throughout the trimester.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Content

The unit focuses on the application of heritage conservation and management concepts, approaches and tools in Australian and international practices. The Unit will familiarise students with the ways in which these support decision making processes, including those framed by heritage laws, design cultures and planning systems; as well as critically examining emerging issues, tensions and gaps. Spanning Indigenous and non-Indigenous heritage sites, places, landscapes, architecture and neighbourhoods, the unit will develop student skills in conservation planning, incorporating municipal, state and national heritage planning as well as place management, documentation, maintenance, impact assessment, development and adaptive re-use.
