Content
This unit provides students with a basic understanding of the processes involved in policy and program evaluation. Through an examination of an evaluation report of a student's own choosing students will be introduced to the different processes involved in good evaluation; the political nature of evaluation research and its application to evaluation report writing; the impact of evaluation for policy outcomes; and how to write an evaluation report. Topics in the unit will cover the purposes of policy evaluation, formative and process evaluation, basic research design, qualitative methods, measurement tools and strategies, cost effectiveness and cost analysis, ethical issues and writing evaluation reports.Assessment
