Prerequisite:

Students who commenced course E760, E761, E762, E763, prior to 2020, need to have completed:

  • 8 credit points, including;
  • two (2) units EEE751 &  EEE752, plus;
  • two (2) units from EPR701, EPR702, EPR711, EPR712, EPR721, EPR722, EPR731, EPR732, EPR781, EPR782 and; 
  • have a WAM of 70

Students commencing course E761 or E763 from 2020,
must have completed 4 credit points including 1 unit from EPR731, EPR761, EPR781 or ECE733

Typical study commitment:

Students will on average spend 150-hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Educator-facilitated (scheduled) learning activities - on-campus unit enrolment:

1 x 2-hour seminar per week

Educator-facilitated (scheduled) learning activities - online unit enrolment:

1 x 2-hour online seminar per non-placement teaching week.

Students are also expected to engage in at least 6 hours of independent study per week, including engaging with online modules, readings, discussion forums and assessments

In-person attendance requirements:

Students who are completing professional experience (placements) are not required to attend lectures or scheduled synchronous sessions during the placement.

Content

Research Design, Development and Method is a research training unit that introduces students to the research process including designing research in education, the development of specific research questions, selection of appropriate research methods to address these questions, examples of quantitative and qualitative approaches and the gathering, analysis and interpretation of data, ethical issues and research integrity.
