Content

This unit is the final in a sequence of three compulsory primary mathematics education units. There are two foci. The first is that pre-service teachers will continue to develop key mathematical concepts, mathematical language, multiple representations and flexible strategies, with a particular focus on algebraic thinking. Second, pre-service teachers will become critically informed about issues that can impact their future practice as teachers of mathematics. These issues might include: local, national and international data and evidence of student mathematics achievement; the role of mathematics within interdisciplinary STEM programs; the trend towards team planning and teaching, including within open learning spaces; and the use of commercial solutions for teaching and assessing mathematics learning.

ULO These are the Learning Outcomes (ULO) for this unit. At the completion of this unit, successful students can: Deakin Graduate Learning Outcomes
