Contact hours:

1 x 2 hour seminar per week, 1 x 2 hour practical class per fortnight. In addition to seminars and practical classes, learning is supported by a series of cloud (online) recordings of each topic's core learning objectives.

Content

This unit explores contemporary neurobiological explanations of human behaviour. Individual, social, ethical and practical implications are examined in the context of topics including: neural structure and function, psychopharmacology, biological methods, sensory systems, emotions, motor activity, sleep, mental disorders, language, memory and learning.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours) 60%, team presentations 30%, reflective piece (700 words) 10%

Fortnightly team presentation will take place in practical classes (in class for campus students or online (via eLive) for cloud (online) students). Cloud (online) students will require access to a computer-compatible microphone. Students - campus and cloud (online) - unable to participate in practicals may be eligible to receive an alternative assessment in which they submit a recording of their presentations.
