This unit is only available to students enrolled in H315, H318, H343, H353, D333, D394, H355 OR S323 students completing the Nutrition and Exercise Science major (MJ-H000026) OR H300 and D391 students completing the Nutrition major (MJ-H000007).

Trimester 2 - Burwood and Geelong Waurn Ponds students :
7 x online modules per trimester (3-5 hours per week),
5 x 1 hour on-campus seminars in Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 and
4 x 2 hour on-campus practical experience (laboratory) in Weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8

In-person attendance requirements:

Trimester 2 - Warrnambool students only : 
2 x 4 hour on-campus intensive practical experience (laboratory) in Weeks 2 and 6 to be undertaken at the Waurn Ponds campus in Geelong.

Trimester 3 - All enrolled students : 
2 x 4 hour on-campus intensive practical experience (laboratory) in Weeks 2 and 6 to be undertaken at either:

  • Burwood (Melbourne) for students with Course enrolment at Burwood (Melbourne) or
  • Waurn Ponds (Geelong) for all other students.

Content

In this unit, students will examine the function of human physiological systems and how these systems respond to and work together (integrate) in their responses to challenges that arise from a variety of conditions such as exercise, pathology and the environment. Students will learn to explain human physiology using physiological data and published scientific evidence.
