Content

This unit provides students with the opportunity to learn about systems/software used by accounting practitioners. Students develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of the processes in organisations and how accounting information systems facilitate the management of these processes. Students have the opportunity to examine the information systems and review the means by which organisations acquire and deploy accounting information systems. The unit also includes a study of contemporary issues surrounding accounting information systems, as well as a critical analysis of the ethical issues related to the development and use of systems.  The unit will also provide hands-on experience using MYOB AccountRight software, a key system used within the realm of accounting.

Assessment

Trimester 2 2013:

Assignment (group of up to four) 50%, examination 2 hours 50%

 

Trimester 3 2013:

Assessment 1 (Group of up to four) - Assignment 50%

Examination / Test* (2 hours) 50%

Hurdle requirement: achieve at least 50% of the available marks in the examination
