Service industries currently account for approximately 70-80% of Australia's GDP and employs over 80% of the workforce. It is anticipated that 90% of all new jobs created during this decade will be in the service sector. Service organisations differ in many important respects from manufacturing organisations, requiring a distinctive approach to planning and implementing marketing strategy. This subject builds on the knowledge gained in Marketing Management by providing a detailed analysis of how to tailor marketing goals and strategies to service organisations. This is a highly practical unit that allows students the opportunity to apply theory to real-life situations on an on-going basis.
Assessment 1 (Group – 2 students)- Written assessment (4000 words) -40%
Examination (2 hours) – 60%
Hurdle requirement: achieve at least 50% of the marks available on the examination
