Content
Topics to be addressed in this unit will include microscopy and staining, prokaryotic cell anatomy, bacterial growth and its measurement and how it is influenced by environmental factors; the biology of viruses with special reference to bacteriophage; microbial genetics including conjugation, transformation, transduction and transposition; and an introduction to the use of prokaryotes in genetic engineering.Assessment
