Students' gateway to Campus

Opportunities at Deakin

Orientation Host Program

Orientation starts with the Host Program, which is run by senior Deakin students and is a great opportunity for new students to make friends, become familiar with the Campus and ask senior students questions about life at Deakin.

Getting involved as an Orientation Host is a great way to build your leadership and communication skills, as well as to connect with other students. The key tasks that Hosts are asked to perform are to lead a group of new students, spend time helping these students get to know one another and take them on a tour of the Campus.

Your experience as an Orientation Host is definitely something you could add to your résumé or include in graduate applications and you will get a certificate to attest to your participation. For information on how to become an Orientation Host, email the Transition team for further details.

All you have to do is grab the opportunity with both hands.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an international 'leadership action' program for people between 16 and 25 years, and is hosted by the Careers and Employment team at Deakin. The Award is self-directed and you can design and plan your own program by choosing activities that interest you. The Award provides real experiences and skills you can talk about at an interview and is an internationally recognised award to put on your résumé, giving you a competitive edge when applying for graduate roles. So for great friendships and great experiences, get started now!
