Students' gateway to Campus

Departure checklist

Airport services

Melbourne students should check the Yellow Pages for a list of the airport shuttle bus services that are available to assist you in getting to the airport. Students living in the eastern suburbs may wish to check out Eastside Buslines for a sample of the services and rates offered.

For Geelong students, the Gull Bus provides transport to Melbourne International Airport (Tullamarine). Bookings can be made online on the Gull Bus website.
For internal connecting flights departing from Avalon Airport, the Avalon Airport Shuttle has a door-to-door service.

Excess Baggage

Information on how to send excess baggage home is available from Deakin International at the Burwood and Waurn Ponds Campuses.

Updating your address

Ensure that the University has your overseas address by completing a Change of Address form at Deakin Central on your campus before your departure. For more information, please contact Customer Service (select 'Address Inquiry' from the vertical toolbar options on the left.)

You may also wish to update your address details with your bank, phone company, insurance company, etc, so that you can continue to receive relevant information from them.

Deakin memorabilia

You may wish to purchase some Deakin merchandise to commemorate your experience as an international student or as souvenirs for your friends and family back home. Deakin offers a range of merchandise (often with generous discounts for students!) including graduation DVDs, clothing, stationery and academic gowns at the various on-campus stores - or visit the Deakin merchandise store for the range of merchandise available.

Outstanding fees and fines

Make sure you return all library books and settle any debts to the University before your departure. This includes library fines, outstanding tuition fees and any other fees you may have incurred. Your results will not be released nor your degree conferred until all outstanding debts have been paid.

If you have any money issues, please speak to an International Student Adviser or discuss possible payment extensions with the department concerned before your departure.

Email access

Your Deakin internet/email account will be deactivated once you have completed your final examinations. Make sure you transfer all important data and emails to an external internet/email account beforehand.

Travel advice

Contact the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the latest in travel warnings before your scheduled departure.

Advice and help

If you need any advice or help with your departure, please contact an International Student Adviser.
