Completion letters are issued to international students primarily for the purpose of applying for permanent residency. Completion letters cannot be obtained until your enrolment status has officially changed to 'completed'.(That is, after the faculty has confirmed that you have met all your course requirements.) This can be verified through StudentConnect.
An original completion letter will be issued to you via mail within two working days of your enrolment status changing to 'Completed'. It is your responsibility to ensure your mailing address is up to date and to arrange certified copies if required.
If you need to obtain a completion letter urgently, please contact your enrolment officer at your faculty. You may, however, obtain an 'Expected to Complete' letter from an International Customer Service Officer at Deakin Central for other purposes if necessary.
Note: Please be aware that an 'Expected to Complete' letter will not be sufficient for permanent residency applications. Once your enrolment status has officially changed, your completion letter and academic transcript will be mailed to you by the Division of Student Administration, which may take up to five working days.
If you have been identified as a prospective graduand, you will be sent an invitation to graduate. You must apply to graduate through StudentConnect, even if you wish to graduate in absentia (that is, without attending the graduation ceremony).
You must apply to graduate by the closing date even if your final results have not been received or you expect your results to be delayed (e.g. if you have applied for special consideration or review of your results), you should lodgeyour application to graduate via StudentConnect.
If you do not receive an invitation to lodge an application to graduate, please contact Customer Service (Tel: 9244 6333 or enquire@deakin.edu.au) to request an inviation to graduate. For more information, please refer to the Division of Student Administration's (DSA's) Graduations website. You may also wish to find out the deadline to apply to graduate from StudentConnect.
For students who are completing their courses at the end of this year, their graduation ceremony will usually take place around mid-April, next year. For up-to-date information on graduation dates and venues, please refer to DSA's Ceremony Information.
Once your eligibility to graduate has been confirmed, an official copy of your academic transcript will be sent to you at your registered postal address listed on Student Connect.
Students returning to their home countries should ensure that their listed postal address on Student Connect is changed to their overseasl address prior to their departure.
For exchange and study abroad students, your semester results will be mailed to your registered postal address as it is listed on the student database. (Ensure that you inform Deakin Central of your overseas address details before leaving Deakin).
