Nokia Deakin Wi-Fi configuration

These instructions will set up a Nokia E51 and similar models with access to the Deakin Wi-Fi.

  1. Click Tools, then click Settings, then click Connection, then click Access Points
  2. Click menu Options > New access point
  3. Click Connection Name and enter:DeakinSecure
  4. Click Data bearer
    1. Select Wireless LAN
  5. Click WLAN Netw. name
    1. Select Search for netw
    2. Select DeakinSecure
  6. Verify that network status: Public
  7. Verify that WLAN netw. mode: Infrastructure
  8. Verify that WLAN security mode: WPA/WPA2
  9. Click WLAN security settings
    1. Verify that WPA/WPA2: EAP
    2. Verify that WAP2 only mode: off
  10. Click EAP plug-in settings
    1. Click menu Options > Enable
    2. Click EAP-PEAP
    3. Click all others unticked
    4. Select EAP-PEAP
    5. Click menu Options > Configure
    6. Click General Tab
      1. Verify that Personal Certificate: (not defined)
      2. Click Authority certificate and select Thawte Premium Server...
      3. Click User name in use: User-configured
      4. Click User name and enter: < deakin username >
      5. Click Real in use: User-configured
      6. Click Realm and enter: deakin.edu.au
      7. Allow PEAPv0: Yes
      8. Click Allow PEAPv1: No
      9. Click Allow PEAPv2: No
    7. Click EAP tab
      1. Click EAP-MSCHAPv2 only
      2. Click all others unticked
      3. Select EAP-MSCHAPv2
      4. Click menu Options > Configure
      5. Click User name and enter: < deakin username > @deakin.edu.au
      6. Verify that prompt password: No
      7. Click Password: < deakin password >
        1. Note: You will need to update this password whenever you change your Deakin password
      8. Click menu Back
    8. Click Cipher tab
      1. Click RSA,AES,SHA
      2. Click DHE-RSA,AES,SHA
      3. Click DHE-DSS,AES,SHA
    9. Click menu Options > Exit
