Windows Mobile 6.0 Deakin Wi-Fi configuration

These instructions will set up a Windows Mobile 6 device with access to the Deakin Wi-Fi.

  1. Get admin access to your workstation. To do so, click on this link and follow the on screen instructions. Note: You must log off and on again after completing this to apply the administrative privileges.
  2. Connect your mobile device to your PC
  3. Load the CD that came with the device
  4. Install ActiveSync
    1. On completion, select File > Connection Settings...
    2. Click Connect
    3. Make sure ActiveSync is in Connected state
  5. Download SecureW2 by clicking SecureW2_EAP_Suite_200_CE.exe (231 KB) (latest version is available at SecureW2 EAP Suite)
  6. Run SecureW2_EAP_Suite...exe to install and follow the instructions below:
    1. Select a language and click OK
    2. Click Next in the Welcome window
    3. Click I Agree in the License window
    4. Click Install in the Setup window
    5. Click OK
    6. Click Finish
      download complete
  7. Follow the prompts on your device as follows...
  8. Click Yes to install software on your device
    install
  9. Click ok to complete install
  10. On the Home screen, click Start > Programs
  11. Click Wireless Manager
  12. If Wireless LAN is OFF, clickWireless LAN
    1. Ignore any prompts to connect
  13. On the Home screen, click Start > Settings
    select Settings
  14. Click the Connections tab
  15. Click Wi-Fi
  16. Click Eduroam in the Configure Wireless Networks window
  17. Click Next

  18. In Configure Network Authentication, enter:
    1. Select WPA2 from the Authentication pull down
    2. Select AES from the Data Encryption pull down
    3. Click Next

  19. In Configure Network Authentication, enter:
    1. Select SecureW2 TTLS from the EAP type pull down
    2. Click Properties
      select properties
  20. Click Configure
  21. Click the Connection tab
    1. Tick Use alternate outer identity
    2. Select Use anonymous outer identity
      select use anonymous outer identity
  22. Click the Certificates tab
    1. Tick Verify server certificate
    2. Click Add CA
    3. Click Thawte Premium Server CA
    4. Click Add CA
    5. Untick Verify server certificate
      untick verify server certificate
  23. Click the Authentication tab
    1. Select EAP from the Select Authentication Method pull down
    2. Select MSV2-Challenge from the EAP Type pull down
      click the authentication tab
  24. Click User account tab
    1. Untick Prompt user for credentials
    2. User name: < deakin username > @deakin.edu.au
    3. Password: < deakin password >
      1. Note: You will need to update this password whenever you change your Deakin password
    4. Click OK
      click OK
  25. Click OK in the Profile tab window
    click finish
  26. Click Finish
  27. Click and hold the Eduroam wireless network and when the menu appears, click Connect
    click connect
