Windows Mobile 6.0 cellular ActiveSync configuration

The following instructions are for all Windows Mobile 6 devices, check the user guide for the device or Step 7: Manage and Configure Windows Mobile 6 Powered Devices for more information.

After completing the instructions below, you will be able to access the Deakin staff directory the following ways:

  • In Contacts, click Menu > Company Directory
  • In a new email message, click the To box (or click Menu > Add Recipient) then click Company Directory

To connect a Windows Mobile 6 powered device to an Exchange server:

  1. On the Home screen, click Start > Programs
  2. Click ActiveSync
  3. Click Menu > Add Server Source
    1. Note: If the mobile device has been synchronized with Exchange server, Configure Server will be the available option.

  4. In Edit Server Settings, enter:
    1. Server address: services.exchange.deakin.edu.au
    2. Tick This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection
    3. Click Next
      enter server address
  5. In Edit Server Settings, enter:
    1. User name: < deakin username >
    2. Password: < deakin password >
      1. Note: You will need to update this password whenever you change your Deakin password
    3. Domain: du
    4. Tick Save password
    5. Click Next
      save settings
  6. In Edit Server Settings, enter:
    1. Check on: Contacts, Calendar, Email, Tasks
    2. Click Finish
      select Contacts, Calendar, Email, Tasks
  7. Click Menu and select Schedule
  8. In Schedule, enter:
    1. Peak times: Manually
    2. Off-peak times: Manually
    3. Tick Send/receive when I click Send
    4. Note: Only select other options if you have an unlimited data plan
    5. Click ok
  9. Click Sync on the ActiveSync page.
