Printing

Printers are strategically placed in the proximity of all 24 hour computer labs and located in all campus libraries. Printer support is available every day, except University holidays.

Costs

All printing is chargeable with the costs being automatically deducted from your Deakin Card balance. You will need to confirm the cost of your printing before the document is sent to the printer. See the Deakin Card website for information on reloading your Deakin Card.

Printing at Deakin

Students can print at any printer located on their campus by swiping their Deakin Card at the preferred printer.

Simply select the Colour or B/W printer from the print menu in your application, go to any printer on-campus and swipe your Deakin Card to release.

Access the customer support document titled Computer laboratories: printing from the eSolutions Publications website for full printing information and instructions (including printing from your laptop). You may also like to view Printing FAQs.

Printing from your laptop at Deakin

You can print from your own laptop to computer lab and library printers while connected to the Deakin network (either via a wired or a wireless connection). To be able to print from your laptop you will need to install the Pharos Print Client available from the software website.

When printing from your laptop you will be given a choice of printers on all campuses.  Each printer is named with Campus_Lab_Colour or Campus_Lab_BW_Output.  Be sure to select the appropriate campus printer and colour or BW (black/white).  Once you have selected the printer, you will be prompted for your Deakin username and password and will receive a message detailing the costs of the print job. You will still need to swipe your Deakin Card at the printer you wish to collect your printing from. Normal printing charges will apply.

For more information about connecting your laptop to the Deakin network visit www.deakin.edu.au/services/computing/wireless.

Please note that if you select to print your document in colour and release it on a black and white printer, the document will print in black and white, however you will be charged for a colour print job. There is no provision for refunds.

Also note that all print jobs will be purged from the system after 2 hours if not released.

Disclaimer: Deakin eSolutions cannot guarantee that the Pharos Print Client will work on laptop configurations that do not match Deakin's recommended computer standards.
