Information for HDR candidates

Changes during Candidature

Personal information

At some point in your candidature your personal details may change. You must notify the HDR Candidature Manager promptly (email research-hdr@deakin.edu.au or telephone +61 3 925 17124) of any changes to your citizenship, or personal information such as name, address and other contact details.

Changing the terms of your candidature

For various reasons, you may need to ask to change the terms of your candidature. You can do this using the online forms (http://www.deakin.edu.au/research/admin/hdradmin/online-forms/). You should always discuss any change with your supervisor prior to applying.

Changes might include:

  • Intermission or time off from candidature, when you are not able to study for whatever reason.
  • Extension of the duration of your candidature
  • Change of candidature such as from part-time to full-time, or on-campus to off-campus.
  • Change of one or more supervisors
  • Change of your research topic, or between research degrees such as from masters to doctorate
  • Extension of your scholarship (this is very limited, please see your scholarship conditions)

Annual Review of progress

All candidates need to demonstrate satisfactory progress on an annual basis in order to be able to continue their candidature. For those on a scholarship, satisfactory progress is also a condition of scholarship continuation. The Annual Review is done every September using an online system. Further information is available here: http://www.deakin.edu.au/current-students/research/annual-review.php
