- About Deakin
Once we have received your acceptance of candidature and enrolment forms, we will send you a welcome email. This will include your new Deakin username and email address, as well as some links to topical candidate websites and our HDR Facebook page.
If you are an international student and you have to complete an English Language program before you start, please note that your research degree does not officially start until you have passed the language course. However you can approach the Faculty to plan your location and facilities for after you complete your language requirements.
Your IT access and Deakin email is enabled with your enrolment at Deakin, but you will need to create your password – see www.deakin.edu.au/password. You must check your Deakin email frequently as all communication from Deakin is via your Deakin email.
You will need a Deakin Card for identification and library borrowing while you are on campus. Your Deakin Card can also be loaded with value for services including photocopying, printing, retail, vending machines and residential meals. See http://www.deakin.edu.au/current-students/services/deakincard/index.php to obtain the Card and find out about how to use it.
Once you have your Deakin Card you can access the Library. You can also access many online resources provided by the Library, using your Deakin username and password.
You should contact your Faculty administrators about office space, laboratory facilities if relevant and to find out whether computers or telephones are available for you.
