Students' gateway to Campus

Make first contact with your Mentor

Once a Mentor accepts your request, you will be provided with their contact details within two weeks. You are responsible for making the initial contact with your Mentor to organise the first meeting.

Act fast

Try to contact your Mentor within a week of getting matched.

Communicate with clarity

Whether by email or phone, a suggested guideline is:

  • introduce yourself
  • thank the Mentor for agreeing to mentor you
  • suggest dates/times that you are available for the first meeting and work out with your Mentor how long the meeting will be
  • discuss how the first meeting should take place (face to face, phone etc)

Be proactive

If the Mentor hasn't responded to you in a while, email or call them again. They may just be busy or missed your email/call. Remember, they signed up for the program because they want to mentor a student.
