Students' gateway to Campus

Online, newspapers and community notice boards

These are the most popular traditional methods of searching for work. They will allow you to access the 20 - 30% of vacancies that are advertised.

Tips to maximise your job search success via online, newspapers and community notice boards:

  • be selective. There are a lot of resources for you to use in this section. You probably can’t use them all. Focus your attention on the few you find most helpful.
  • ask experienced professionals in your industry of interest for their job search advice. Find an experienced professional through Career Mentoring

Also use networking and cold-calling to access the other 70 - 80% of vacancies that aren't advertised.
