UK Principals love Australian graduates in their classrooms!

There are a number of graduate positions available throughout England from Primary, Secondary, Special Needs, Early Childhood and Classroom Support. Despite having only practicum experience under their belts, graduates are in high demand for both short and long term positions throughout Government and Independent schools in Britain.

Recruitment Trends:

Due to the high volume of schools and other educational settings throughout the UK and the current influx of student enrolments from EU countries, Australian teachers are needed to fill numerous vacancies. There are a number of agencies that recruit overseas trained teachers to work in UK schools. Registering with a reputable agency is the best way to get introduced to the national curriculum. Graduates are an attractive prospect due to their enthusiasm, flexibility, new ideas and ability to follow lesson plans.

Finding the Perfect Role:

By registering with an agency and indicating a preference for short or long term work, graduates can easily connect with a number of schools and find their ideal role(s). Most agencies will have a number of school contacts and can arrange interviews before graduates leave Australia or soon after they arrive.

Registration is usually free and generally requires: CV, references, prac reports, police check and Visa details as a minimum.

As there are a number of teacher recruitment agencies in operation it is important to register with one that suits your needs and caters to schools in the area where you’ll be based. Pay rates may differ so it’s important to do your research. Most recruitment consultants are teachers that have taught in UK classrooms previously.
