Development Manager - SMA Projects

Graduated in:

2004

Course completed:

Bachelor of Construction Management

Currently working for:

SMA Projects

How long have you been working for this organisation?

5 years

Position title and short job description:

Development Manager

Working highlight so far:

It is pretty satisfying handing over a property to a smiling purchaser in a building where you were there at the sales and marketing stage, design development stage and all throughout the construction stage, you feel like you have done a good job.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

Being able to not only use the skills gained in the profession to further build my career prospects but also use these same skills to benefit my personal circumstances.

An area in which you have needed assistance:

Every day you rely on the assistance of others, the project team, the sub contractor team, the team of your own office to deliver outcomes and projects.

What do you intend to do in the future?

Grow, slowly but surely to hopefully being more involved in the conceptual stage of developments/projects.

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Don't just concentrate on your studies from the library or computer chair, try and gain as many industry contacts at every level through your studies as you will gain a more true and operational understanding. You will also be surprised how willing people are generally to discuss their profession, view and opinions with someone taking a genuine interest in them.
