Position title and short job description:

I am a Career Management Practitioner and I work with individuals to help them with whatever career issues they may have. This includes helping clients identify their strengths and to understand what sorts of roles would suit them best, helping clients develop skills and confidence in how to market themselves, and career coaching.

Working highlight so far:

I would have to say my current work. I just love the independence and the variety of running my own business.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

I find my work hugely satisfying. Helping people to gain depth of understanding of themselves and others and the marketing process enables them to find a job whenever they may want or need it and that is job security for ever!

An area in which you have needed assistance:

I have a theory that some of us are attracted to the career that we need the most help from as I have always and still do, wonder what I will do next. Perhaps that is another reason why I find my work so interesting.

What do you intend to do in the future?

At this point I am tossing up between pychology, or a Masters in career development, or perhaps fine art.

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

I chose Business Studies because it was a general course that gave me a bit of grounding in finance, accounting, marketing and economics. I have found abroad background useful in working with clients from all of those disciplines. So if, like me, you are not sure about which specific direction to take, choosing a general course is a good option. But, wherever possible, always follow your dream.
