How long have you been working for this organisation?

4.5 years

Position title and short job description:

Studio Project Officer. I work at the Cancer Council's Creative Services studio, managing a range of web and print design projects.

Working highlight so far:

Being able to see professional photographers in action. We often source new photographs for brochures and posters and, in the search for free talent, it is common for colleagues to be called upon as models. I have even appeared on the cover of a booklet.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy creating online content, whether it be writing text, producing images or finding ways to improve usability. I also find assisting people to create their own web content, using a content management system, to be very rewarding.

An area in which you have needed assistance:

The most challenging part of my current role has been learning to juggle more than a dozen projects at once, keeping track of scope, schedule and budget. It often helps to seek advice from experienced colleagues about time management and communication strategies.

What do you intend to do in the future?

Get back into my photography.

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Jobs in the arts industry can be very hard to come by. Be prepared to take a job that is not as creative as you may like at first, but find ways to bring creativity into your everyday life and don't stop looking for the role you really want.
