Course Completed:

Master of Nutrition and Dietetics

Organisation that you are currently working for:

Self employed

Position title and short job description:

Clinical and Sports Dietitian. I work with a wide range of clientele from those wanting to lose weight, to people with high cholesterol and diabetes, to babies and children, people with food intolerance, elite and recreational athletes ... and many more!

Working highlight so far:

Working with the Carlton Football Club for 4 years, and on radio 3RRR as resident dietitian for 7 years.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

Helping people use good food and health to enhance their life. I enjoy the personal interaction with clients. I also enjoy media and writing work as i would have otherwise like to be a sports journalist!

An area in which you have needed assistance:

Mentoring. Although i have mentored many younger dietitians, I still need advice now, particularly in the area of food intolerance as it is so complex. My 3 year old daughter is extremely food sensitive so she has forced me to learn quickly!

What do you intend to do in the future?

Expand more into the food intolerance area, keep working for Sports Dietitians Australia, and continue what I do now as I love it all!

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Be willing to give any area of nutrition a go, and keep in touch with your contacts, they are your best chance of more work.
