How long have you been working for this organisation?

2 years

Position title and short job description:

Software Developer - The company I work for develops an engineering CAD program.  My job is to develop new features for the software, fix bugs and act on client feedback and requests.

Working highlight so far:

Working on a huge new feature for our software that took me 6 months and over 26,000 lines of code. That feature is now released and is used frequently by our clients around the world, as was even cited by one of our competitors as being of high quality.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

I love the people I work with who I count as friends rather then colleagues. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment of starting a project and developing it to its end, and to see it being released to our clients and receiving feedback.

An area in which you have needed assistance:

At first the computer programming side was a bit of a challenge. I was given a lot of assistance by my supervisor in regards to computer programming practices, solving programming problems and being introduced to new standards.

What do you intend to do in the future?

Currently I am still at University completing my Honours degree, and have continued my employment at Integrated Technical Software for the time being.  At the end of the year I hope to leave my current job in pursuit for a more challenging and rewarding employer.

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Enjoy what you do, otherwise every class and every assignment will be a struggle, and you will get half way and wonder if you are wasting your time.
