Computershare

5 years

Position title and short job description:

Developer. I develop electronic document capture software using MS. Net & SQL server development tools.

Working highlight so far:

Being sent to our UK, Canadian and US offices for five weeks to support the upgrade of a system that I co-developed.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

The logical problem solving aspect to developing a software solution. Then once the solution has been released, seeing my work being used every day.

What do you intend to do in the future?

In the future I plan on moving a bit higher, not just staying in development, then possibly moving into consulting/contracting to work on a greater variety of systems. There is a lot of excitement in applications for mobile phones and web 2.0, so there will be strong demand for my skills.

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Focus on the large team projects where all the skills learnt from the course are used on real world problems. I have found that these fundamental skills are used everyday.
