Students' gateway to Campus

Renee Coulter

Environmental Scientist - Connolly Environmental

Graduated in:

2006

Course completed:

Bachelor of Environmental Science majoring in conservation ecology (honours).

Currently working for:

Connolly Environmental.

How long have you been working for this organisation?

18 months.

Position title and short job description:

Environmental Scientist in the contaminated land and groundwater industry.

Working highlight so far:

In general when I am given more responsibility for specific jobs that I am working on.

What are the things you enjoy most about your job?

The people I work with. This is not really the industry I wanted to be in, it was just really difficult getting employment after I graduated. We were not really given much guidance from Deakin with respect to employment. Aside from the people I do like the fact that we are cleaning up land and protecting and cleaning up groundwater for future generations and the environment.

What do you intend to do in the future?

Hopefully get into more ecological based work with animals and plants!

#1 tip for current students studying your course:

Have a really good idea of your end point and get as much advice from your lecturers as possible about job opportunities. Try and gain work experience while at uni so you have an idea of what you want to do and DO honours!!!
