The Careers service offers professional advice and assistance to prospective students, current students, graduates, staff, employers and members of the wider community.
Résumé help
- Information on writing a resume or creating a resume is available online on the résumé help page.
- Résumé checking service - Geelong campus make an appointment at the Student Life reception desk for résumé checking with Careers Staff.
Burwood campus has daily résumé checking workshops: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 1pm-2pm. Tuesday & Thursday 10am - 11am.
Career education workshops
- Career Education Workshops and seminars are presented during lunchtime or at other appropriate times.
- Topics include job applications, presentation skills, interview skills, résumé writing, skills assessment, job seeking and labour market information.

Career Resource Centre
A Career Resource Centre is located on every campus. To find your local centre or make an appointment with a Careers Information Officer please visit or contact Careers.
You will find:
- books, videos, DVDs, newspapers, information folders and pamphlets on
career paths, further study options, job seeking skills, interviews, employers
and working overseas.
- the annual Graduate Destination Survey (GDS), which provides statistical information
about graduate employment.
- the ‘OZJAC’ course and careers database, available for use at Burwood, Geelong and Warrnambool.
- computers with Internet access are located at Burwood and Warrnambool.
Resources are generally not available for borrowing. However, photocopying
facilities are provided.
Career counselling
Careers counsellors are available for individual appointments to discuss issues such as:
- career planning
- decision making
- further study options
- job opportunities
- employer expectations
- job applications
Jobsearch and employment information
Jobshop is Deakin University’s Employment and Recruitment Service for part-time, casual, overseas and interstate jobs, tutoring, vacation work through to full-time jobs and graduate positions. Jobs are listed online.
Graduate recruitment
- Graduate employers visit Deakin University to recruit final year students into graduate employment programs. Information sessions and interviews are conducted on campus, usually at the beginning of Semester 1 and throughout the year.
